Before Intravenous Anesthesia Sedation

Top Oral Surgeons & Dental Implant Specialists in St. Louis, MO & Belleville, IL

In preparation for your upcoming surgery at MOSAIC, we ask that you adhere to the following guidelines to ensure your safety and the effectiveness of the intravenous anesthesia sedation.

  1. Please refrain from consuming food or drinks, including water, for a minimum of eight hours before your scheduled surgery time.
  2. If you are a smoker, we strongly advise you to abstain from smoking for at least 12 hours before your procedure. For your overall health and surgery success, it would be advantageous to reduce or ideally quit smoking as far ahead of your surgery date as possible.
  3. A reliable adult is required to accompany you to MOSAIC on the day of your procedure. This individual must stay in the office throughout your surgery, provide transportation for you post-procedure, and commit to remaining with you for the first 24 hours after surgery.
  4. Given the lingering effects of anesthesia, patients must not operate vehicles or any form of machinery for a full 24 hours following the surgery.
  5. Dress appropriately on the day of your surgery. We recommend loose, comfortable clothing with short sleeves to facilitate monitoring. Also, for safety, it's crucial to wear supportive, secure shoes like lace-up sneakers.
  6. Please remove all contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures prior to surgery.
  7. Refrain from wearing lipstick, heavy makeup, or nail polish on the day of your surgery.
  8. Your health is our priority. If you're experiencing any illness symptoms such as a cold, sore throat, or flu-like signs, kindly inform our office.
  9. If you are on routine oral medication, please consult Dr. Noble before your surgery date for detailed instructions.

By following these guidelines, you will greatly contribute to the successful outcome of your procedure. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities at MOSAIC, and we appreciate your cooperation.
